I think Dickson's love life had a tremendous effect on her writing. The fact that she could not be with the men she loved allowed her have a more morbid lens on life. I feel that her dreary view made her an introvert, which for her was the easiest situation to write poetry in. While this might not be optimal it quite obviously bred beautiful poetry.

Slant rhyme is a rhyme that doesn't totally rhyme but the stressed part of the word rhymes. Example: Uncurl and twirl. Imagery is a picture the author creates with words. Irony is something that you think would the opposite. Summary is restating the main points of a story.
